Behind every successful riveting project, there is much more than a machine. There is expertise, testing, validation, and support that secures production even before the first part is manufactured.
Recently, we assisted a Peruvian manufacturer of food cutting robots in the development of a new product incorporating blades assembled by riveting.
The specifications were demanding:
- Ensure consistent riveting quality,
- Ensure perfectly free rotation of the blades without risk of jamming,
- Obtain an impeccable aesthetic result, without head defects or cracking,
- Protect the surfaces of the parts to avoid any scratches or premature wear.
Based on the plans and technical data provided, our teams identified the most suitable solution: a Guillemin S12E orbital riveting machine. Thanks to its 1,200 DaN power and its mechanical stop operation, it offers excellent process repeatability and precise control of the riveting height, which is essential to ensure the proper functioning of the rotating blades.
But the choice of machine is only part of the solution.
In this project, the particular geometry of the rivet to be formed represented a real challenge: a flat, ovalized head requiring a specifically adapted clinching tool. Its profile had to allow for perfect deformation of the rivet while protecting the blades and ensuring a high-quality visual finish.
This is where our testing laboratory comes into its own.
Although located several thousand kilometers away, our client simply sent us a few unassembled samples. After creating a test tool, we carried out several tests in our laboratory, selected and then validated the most suitable clinching tool before sending the riveted samples accompanied by a complete report.
Result: between the reception of the parts and their validated return to the customer, only 8 to 10 days have passed.
This step made it possible to secure the project, validate the process before manufacturing the machine, and offer the customer the certainty of having a production method perfectly suited to their application.
Today, production is underway and the results are there. Building on this first successful experience, our client has already contacted us for a new application. A new clinching tool is under development, following the same approach: testing, validation, and support until the project's success.
At Guillemin, distance is never an obstacle. Thanks to our expertise, our testing laboratory, and the closeness of our exchanges, we support our customers all over the world in transforming their technical constraints into reliable and sustainable production solutions.
