Context :
Our customer needed to assemble a plastic or polymer seal and a stainless steel disc to produce a sealing valve for a heat engine component.
The initial overmolding process presented several constraints:
– Limitation in the choice of materials
– Need to prepare the surfaces to be overmolded (degreasing)
– Complexity and lengthening of manufacturing times
Solution implemented:
We have designed a crimping assembly solution, made with a two-roller riveting head.
This approach allows the use of a non-overmolding plastic material and integrates control of the presence and orientation of the seal via a vision system.
