![]() RIVETING BY ORBITAL OR RADIAL COLD FLOW FORMING
|
|
By riveting, we mean the upsetting of a rivet to form a head to hold several assembled parts together. The rivet can be in the form of a pin or an eyelet
This riveting process allows fixed or hinged assemblies to be made.
It also allows special shapes to be riveted without difficulty (square section tubes as ladder rungs).
Due to the riveting principle and the specific position of the tool (rivet set) on the part to be upset, the upsetting load required is 6 times lower than for direct thrust (press). In certain complex cases (axial access with rivet set impossible), a roller-head swaging procedure can be used.
Orbital or gyroscopic rivetingRivet set angle is from 1 to 8o depending on results to be obtained. It turns around a vertical axis at 1,500 or 3,000 rev/min and describes a cone whose apex corresponds to the centre of gravity of the rivet head to be formed. It is the tool which gives the shape. Simple, rapid, economical |
Daisy or radial rivetingEfficient, precise, uniform. |

RIVETING BY COLD FLOW FORMING : NUMEROUS ADVANTAGES AND POSSIBILITIESFixed of hinged assembled parts can be done, Many types of materials can be riveted (steel, carbon of stainless steel, plastic,..., All working positions possible, All possibilities of automation. Excellent mecanichal holding (security), Limited deformation and pressure of the parts to be assembled, No change in the structure of the material of the parts Fast and rational implementation, Silent Reduced cost. This advanced technology is very efficent, precise and gives constant results. |
